Mr. Michael Mathew Smith , Age 60

Independent Non-Executive Chairman

Mr. Michael Mathew Smith is the Chairman of the Board and is responsible for its leadership and effectiveness. Mr. Smith holds a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Cape Town, and a MBA from the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business.

Mr. Smith has over 25 years’ experience in the mining industry, as an engineer, business development executive and a regulated corporate financier.  Mr. Smith worked for major mining companies including Anglo American Corporation and JCI Limited before becoming a manager in the Emerging Markets finance division of Investec Bank in South Africa. Mr. Smith then joined Investec Bank’s London office to establish its Mining & Resource Finance Team. Mr. Smith was then appointed as a director of Resources Advisory Partnership Limited, London an FSA regulated financial advisory company specialising in sub-Saharan Africa.
 
Mr. Smith was a founding director of Lesotho Diamond Corporation prior to its takeover, which initiated the development of the largest kimberlite pipe in that country, and was also a founder of AIM quoted Madagascar Oil plc prior to its takeover.  More recently Mr. Smith was Chairman and CEO of Anglo African Minerals plc, a GXG Markets (London) listed company with a substantial portfolio of bauxite licences in Guinea.  Mr. Smith is also a founder of TAM Resources Limited. Currently Mr. Smith is advising a number resources companies in UK including those seeking future public listings.

His Excellency Ulambayar Barsbold, Age 50

Executive Director / Chief Executive Officer

His Excellency Ulambayar Barsbold is a non-executive Director and a key member of the Board bringing in significant expertise in Environment responsibilities, geo-political relationships and extensive commercial investment strategies. He is a high net worth individual who, over the last 28 years, has built a successful career in both public and private sectors having extensive international experience and expertise.

At 26 years old, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Government of Mongolia (1990-1992) having responsibility for foreign trade and industrial development. During this time he successfully instituted liberalization and privatization of many corporate entities. 

His Excellency Barsbold was nominated Minister of Nature and Environment, Member of Government  (2004 to 2006), the youngest Minister in Mongolian government history. As Minister he instituted Mongolian Land Policy Reform in 2002, Water Policy Reform in 2004 and played significant role for improvement and establishment Environment Impact Assessment System in Mongolia. In addition to this, he was responsible for significant policies as Minister for the protection of world heritage sites in Mongolia and nature reserves. A notable achievement during his tenure as Minister was the establishing of Eco Award’s among the best petroleum and industrial companies for Environmentally friendly practice. He also established Solid Waste Management systems in Mongolia byway of passing legislation through Mongolian Parliament.

In 1993 Minister Barsbold was nominated CEO of First Mongolian Consumer’s Cooperative Association (Anhnii Horshoo) which included 330 Consumer’s Co-operatives companies from all over Mongolia and established the first business management and consulting services in Mongolia. Following this in 1996 he established the first business consulting and training agency, Mongolian Business Development Agency (MBDA), under support of EU TACIS Program, EU ALA Program, German Government GTZ. MBDA successfully implemented consulting and training program for 13,226 private companies and SME-s over a 4-year period ending in 2000.

In 2002 in association with Stuart J. Bromley lobbied successfully to change the Tax Law of Mongolia to recognize Investment Stability Agreements, which transformed mining investment in Mongolia, working closely with Boroo Gold Mongolia project to become one of the first companies to receive international investment (now Centerra Gold).

His Excellency Barsbold holds a Master of Business Administration, Doctor of Philosophy in Strategic Management, Professor of Russian High Education Committee and Member of International Diplomatic Academy; is the recipient of Best Politician 2004 award and Next Stop Best political person 2006 award of Mongolia. He is highly active in arts and culture and has organized international exhibitions of the Nations most important historical collections and made significant donations to further the Mongolian Nations Buddhist culture.

Mr. Kevin Holley, Age 60

Non-Executive Director

Kevin Holley has some 34 years international experience as a Director and Geotechnical Engineer including 16 years with SRK Consulting, one of the World’s leading multi-disciplinary mining advisory companies established in 1974 employing more than 1,400 professionals internationally in over 45 offices on 6 continents.  Kevin’s expertise is in geotechnical and geological engineering for both the mining and civil engineering industries.  He has undertaken projects for and/or advised many leading international mining company’s including Kazakhmys PLC, BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, Newcrest Mining, Mongol Gazar, Eldorado, Afcan, Glencore, Fortescue Metals, Barrick Gold, Anglo American, Minco Silver and Anglo Gold.

Kevin has led multiple mining studies or provided technical input at various levels of detail from concept through Preliminary Economic Assessment and Feasibility.  He has also been involved with due diligence as both team leader and specialist for a wide range of projects and commodities.  Kevin has project and project management experience in Australia, Southern Africa, Southeast Asia, China, Mongolia, Canada, Russia and Chile.  He has a special interest in Asia and China.

Kevin is a trained arbitrator and has acted as expert witness in a number of high profile mineral industry litigation and insurance cases. His interest in arbitration has honed his communication as well as negotiation skills, allowing him to communicate effectively with other professions.

Kevin was appointed an Associate Director to Fugro (HK) Ltd, January 1994 through to December 1997.  In 2005 Kevin became a SRK Consulting (Australasia) Pty Ltd Practice Leader.  In this role he was expected to provide guidance with respect to quality, company policy and company development.  He was appointed Chairperson of the SRK Consulting (Australasia) Pty Ltd Practice Leader Group in Australia.  Kevin was elected to the Board of SRK (Australasia) Pty Ltd as an Executive Director in 2007.  In this role he fulfilled fiduciary responsibilities to the Company and its shareholders, and was intimately involved on technical, policy and remuneration committees.  In 2011 Kevin was seconded to support the opening of an SRK office in Jakarta, Indonesia.  He stood down from the SRK (Australasia) Pty Ltd board, and was appointed to the PT SRK Indonesia Board as an Executive Director.  In this role Kevin was responsible for a wide range of aspects including technical quality control for mining resource and reserve estimates, predominantly in conformance with the JORC code.  In 2014 Kevin was promoted to the role of President Director for Pt SRK Consulting Indonesia.  In 2016 Kevin returned to Brisbane Australia, where he was promoted to the role of Corporate Consultant.

Kevin is a Chartered Engineer (CPEng).  He is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, Fellow of Engineers Australia and is registered as a Professional Engineer in Queensland (REPQ).

Mr. Graham Fyfe, Age 49

Independent Non-Executive Director

Mr. Fyfe is a Non-Executive Director and a key technical member of the board. Mr. Fyfe has Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa and has complimented his technical qualification with accreditted courses in Finance, Accounting, Organisational Behaviour and Negotiation from Heriott Watt University.

Mr. Fyfe has over 25 years of international experience in the mining sector including blue chip companies such as such as Fluor, Rio Tinto, Murray & Roberts Engineering Solutions South Africa and De Beers. Since 2008, following many years of conducting diverse projects in the engineering, procurement, construction management (EPCM) environment in the roles of process design engineer and project manager, he took on an executive owner’s representative role in the UK AIM listed Bellzone Mining Plc and Dragonlight Resources.

With extensive experience as owner and EPCM consultant, Mr. Fyfe has developed a unique set of technical, managerial and entrepreneurial skills across the mining and minerals value chain from mineral resource development through to project valuation and marketing of commodities including, diamonds, gold, copper, iron ore, vanadium and rare earths. As an owner representative Mr. Fyfe has extensive experience with the listing, fund raising process and UK regulatory compliance.

Mr. Fyfe has also held directorship of companies in Singapore, South Africa and Australia.

Mr. Jinliang Li (David), Age 47

Executive Director / Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Li is a member of Association of Chartered Accountants UK (ACCA) and a Certified Enterprise Risk Manager in Asia.Mr. Li graduated in 1987 from the Renmin University China with a degree in Accounting. In 1988 he also gained a master's degree in Business Administration in Financial Services from the University of East London.Mr. Li served as the General Supervisor of the Financial and Investment Centre of Hopson Group Limited (listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange), the general supervisor of the Department of International Finance of China Oilfield Technology (listed on the main board of the Singapore Stock Exchange), the Chief Financial Officer of European Food Trading (UK) Co. Ltd., and the director of the financial department of the Engineering and Technology Research Institute of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). He is also CFO of CIC Capital Ltd. (listed on AIM London Stock Exchange).

Mr. Li assisted in the listing of China Oilfield Technology in Singapore. He has extensive experience of international capital markets, company IPO's, the listing regulations and laws of Hong Kong and Singapore, international accounting principles and company management. Mr. Li has studied and worked in the field of accounting and senior financial management in the UK for eight years. He has a good understanding of commercial law and the accounting principles and taxation policies in the UK.

Mr. Zhaohong Ye (Norman), Age 35, COO

Mr. Ye is responsible for the day-to-day operations and works closely with the Chief Executive Officer to affect the Companies strategy.

Mr. Ye started with the CIC Fund in 2004 after graduating Bachelor of Arts (English). He was initially assigned to Libar Gold Mine site located in Gansu, China as technical translator and later a technical officer. Mr. Ye as Technical Officer supported international technical advisors in the production of technical reports, on site drilling and mine modeling (Micromine).  Following two years of on site mine experience Mr. Ye was assigned to Beijing, Head Office to manage the technical aspects of the Company's mineral and energy interests. In November 2009 Mr. Ye was appointed to aid the Company's Board in the management of all technical aspects of CIC mineral and energy project. Mr. Ye was promoted to Chief Operating Officer CIC Fund in December 2012 following eight years of experience with the Company. In 2014 Mr. Ye commenced as Chief Operating officer for CIC Capital following the farm out of the services business of CIC Fund.

Mr. Ye in the past six years has been a key executive aiding the public listing of CIC associated companies on a number of designated stock exchanges including AIM Market, Main Board LSE, Canadian TSX and CNSX.
